Be Dual-Centric Not Work-Centric

It may seem counter-intuitive, but people who do not always put work first are more successful than those who do, according to research conducted by “Families and Work Institute”. These people are dual-centric, that is, they are not just all about work all the time.

Your family and loved ones need to be on an equal plane with you work, in order for you to live a happy and well- balanced life. Think of it as a see saw.

So how do you become dual-centric?

Be clear about your priorities.

Create expectations with those at work and at home.

Meet those expectations.

The reality is that there will be times when work will be all-consuming, like during the startup stage of a high-growth company.

You need to have your family on board with work goals, what’s going to happen, and what real life will look like with you putting so much attention into reaching your business expectations. When you’re at work make it your main focus, leave personal problems aside.

And when you take part in family events, just enjoy it! And be really engaged in the moment, do not be thinking about work!

“A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation

with the bricks others have thrown at him.”
