40 MILLION MISTAKES: Is your credit report accurate?

A new study indicates as many as 40 million consumers have a mistake on their credit report and Steve Kroft finds it hard to get them fixed.

“60 Minutes” has a recent episode on the Credit Bureaus and the terrible job they are doing to provide correct information on people (you). As Steve Kroft learns how to dispute the negatives on his credit report, he finds it very complicated, frustrating and downright ridiculous that he can’t get anything done. He also talks with other people who’s lives have been drastically affected by the Credit Bureaus’ lack of help or caring about the problem. Even attorney’s get a word in about the Credit Bureaus doing illegal things to hold onto negative information that shouldn’t be there.
